It's no secret that OctoberCMS has been growing in leaps and bounds, in some ways it has out grown this forum too. Currently there are more questions than answers and many go unanswered. This makes us sad...

So we have decided to get some help from the third party provider, Stack Exchange, to help us set up a sub category for October Support: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/117717/octobercms

How can you help?

Visit the link above and "Follow" the proposal, look at some example questions and "upvote" the ones you think are good, or just upvote the ones that have the most votes already. You get 5 upvotes in total and can also submit your own example questions if you want.

Once the proposal is accepted and the site becomes available, we will officially move the support section of this forum to Stack Exchange where your questions are more likely to be answered.

If we need 40 questions with score of 10 or more, we are close: we already have more than 40 questions, now it's just about smart voting, I guess. :-)

The next phase is to get 200 people to commit to using the StackExchange in a private beta. We'll see how it goes. If nothing happens, we are planning to recommend using StackOverflow with the octobercms tag.

This is a very good proposal. There is no comparably good platform or format IMO, like that of stackexchange for a good and thriving Q&A network to build high quality open and inclusive knowledge base with good community support. This would be so great if it could go live. Sadly, it seems the "commitment score" is stalled quite steadily at 25% at the moment, although there are already 154/200 commitments. So this

I don't know. I think this requirement is just far too high. From what I see there would be already so many top contributors that could keep a lively and interested community thriving and building up a great knowledge base.

At the moment it seems there is not much one can do, as someone who does not have any high profile in some stackexchange community, to push the October.Stackexchange proposal to go live.

Only 46 more commitments are required, but most importantly more people who already have good reputation scores in other stackexchange sub-communities.

I think the best way at the moment would be for those people who already committed to the proposal and don't have a score of 200 on another sub-network to ask and answer more questions over on stackoverflow instead of her ein the October forums :) That way we can best push our influence on bringing a dedicated October community live over at stackexchange.

I agree! I would suggest totally closing the Q & A forums on this site and force users to ask their questions on stackoverflow.

I would love to see OctoberCMS in Stack.

Update: We have plenty of committed users, now all we need is for those users to gain points by using the site. You can earn points by answering questions tagged with octobecms.

Almost there! The Stack Exchange proposal has crossed the 50% mark!

The Stack Exchange proposal has been closed because we didn't raise enough support. We had more than enough users, but the users were "too new" to the site and didn't have enough reputation.

Feel free to continue using Stack Overflow for getting support. We will use this as our primary method of support with October.

The forum support will soon be decommissioned.
