The Service

Custom development is paid work by the October CMS team on your website or code, for example upgrading it, fixing problems, cleaning up a previous developer's work or adding new features. It's separate from your October CMS license, which doesn't include custom development.

Requests and Estimates

You describe the work you need in a request from your account. We reply with an estimate in hours at the hourly rate shown on the Custom Development page, or let you know if it's work we can't take on.

An estimate covers the work described in the request. If more work is needed, we send a new estimate to the same request before doing it.

Payment

An estimate is paid in full, by card or PayPal, before work on it starts. Prices are in US dollars, and GST is added for customers in Australia. Sending a request and receiving an estimate is free.

Refunds

If we can't complete the work you paid for, we refund the hours we didn't use. If the work takes fewer hours than estimated, we refund the difference.

Access to Your Website

You give us the access the work needs, such as to the server, code repository or administration area, and keep your own backups. We only use that access for the work in your request.

Third Party Products

We can work with third party plugins and themes as part of your website, but some problems with them can only be solved by their authors. We'll let you know if that's the case.

Timing

Work starts in the order estimates are paid. We agree a timeframe with you where we can and keep you updated in the request, but we can't guarantee a completion date.

Platform Questions and Bug Reports

Questions about the October CMS platform, bug reports, and questions about the website, your account or sales don't need a request. Send them to hello@octobercms.com, free of charge.
