Hello, having OctoberCMS replaced old presentation, I'm looking for the best practice in redirecting old pages to the new ones with some 301 http headers. I would like to have it all handled by October so no extra old files in www space. I was thinking about component on 404 page which would handle known addresses properly, but I'm not that sure about headers sent by October before 404 page is handled. Is there better / cleaner way redirecting ppl from /old_page.html -> /new_page with 301 header?

Probably you can go with this approach: http://octobercms.com/forum/post/redirect-htmhtml-from-pages It is tailored for a specific use case there, but you can simply modify it to your needs I guess :)

I have a plugin on the marketplace Redirection to make redirects easy if you're interested - much quicker and less error prone than messing with .htaccess files.

Good enough I guess, thanks.
