I installed OctoberCMS on my local machine after trying a few different options for CMS with laravel and not liking them. The closest I came was statamic, but I want it to be db driven and not flat file. I'm a little annoyed I had to purchase a license just to figure out if this will do what I'm looking for, but I want to find a CMS that will allow someone to manage the site without coding knowledge. If there is some setup involved on my end to make that happen, great! Please help me know how to go in that direction.

I want a basic web site (so pages), and I also want a blog (posts). Both should be customizable (drag and drop or at least with a visual editor so anyone can edit it). Later on, I might want to lock down a section of the site or add products, but it's not essential at the moment. Help please on where to go from here.

Hey Melanie,

The first place with starting a website is often the design, which involves the use of the Editor that comes with CMS. To start with the functionality, install the RainLab.Pages and RainLab.Blog plugin. Each plugin comes with its own documentation on how to get started. There is also a good introduction screencast series by Watch and Learn that might be helpful.

I hope this helps!
