Hi, has anyone found a solution to this as I'm having the same issues i.e getting a "500 Internal Server Error" when unpacking the files.

Thanks

Wish I could help you, but these are the reasons I stopped using 1&1 a decade ago :)

@ndcisiv

I don't actually use 1&1, but I probably use one just as bad in 123-reg (UK). What hosting do you use/recommend that works well with October?

I use two different hosting companies. I use vps.net for anything in production, and all my development is done using solarvps.com (or localhost obviously). I've been using both for about 5 years and have had no issues with either.

@ndcisiv

Have taken a look at vps.net, think it might be a bit expensive for my type of client (small, local businesses who just want a website), that's why I prefer a cheaper shared host.

Am leaning towards switching to "justhost.co.uk" - they seem to offer everything a shared hosting should, but with a little extra flexibility on the server-side also for us developers.

But thanks for your suggestion.

I use TSOHOST and can run October without a problem. You get ssh access which allows you to make all the changes you need even though it is shared hosting.
