This is my first post to these forums since our Laravel-friendly company recently joined as a October partner:

I'm one of the owner/managers of Itomic, so I'm putting myself in the hypothetical shoes of a client of ours who wants to start content-authoring the October site we just build for them.

One of my developers has performed a vanilla-install of October on one of our servers. I've successfully logged into the backend. But it's not immediately obvious to me what I should do to start adding new pages and content to the site. I've little doubt I could figure it out... but this is just me, giving instant first-impression feedback.

I've searched around, and I can't seem to find a beginners guide - preferably as a PDF - for new non-technical content authors for an October site.

Which therefore begs the questions:

1. Is there such a guide? If so, where please, and why couldn't I easily find it?
2. If there isn't such a guide... then is one being written? Maybe I could help write it...

Probably you should know that October is, in contrast to Wordpress, a developer-first CMS. Meaning it is built to make plugin developing and theme creation easy and straight forward. This is also why there is no client-friendly WYSIYG-editing possible out of the box. Thus, a plain october install is really meant to be used by professionals with at least a little background in HTML/CSS.

However, with the right tools (plugins) installed, many of the features you know from other CMS can be brought to October. The most important one beeing probably RainLab.Pages. If configured correctly and permissions beeing granted only to specific areas of the backend, clients will be able to figure how the system can be used. That beeing said, I do agree with you that there is no such guide for beginners and/or content editors (at least that I know of) and it would be a benefit if there were one. So feel free to write something and share it with the community :)
