Hi! I'd like to be able to distribute theme specific plugins with a theme so that they can be used with the theme without being submitted to the plugin registry. The easiest way to implement this would be to add a "plugins" sub-directory inside of a theme and if it exists, load them together with the rest at run time.

Can this be implemented?

Wow, the same idea comes to me right today, because i'm developing my theme.

But, why private plugins?

You can require them in your theme.

All developers could use your plugin, with your name, under beatiful website! It keeps all Open Source and free!

The thing is that if you simply want to provide helper functions or ui features specific for your team, that would be of no use to other themes because of being too tailored for your implementation, it's simply a waste of time to require them to be uploaded to the registry

Totally agree nsrosenqvist!
