Hello everyone!

I've been looking around for a CMS that isn't WordPress, and have fallen short for the most part. However, a friend of mine told me to keep an eye on this project and to investigate it as it may suit my needs. I'm not in a position at the moment to install it and to play with it, but from what I can see it seems to tick a lot of my boxes. It also helps that I was born in October ;)

From looking around, especially in the Plugins page, I noticed you provide a plugin for CKEditor. I'm not a fan of this editor, I've used something called Redactor on a few Symfony2 projects and it does a job brilliantly well. Does October CMS allow people to swap WYSIWYG editors without the need for plugins, or does the editor need a plugin in order to function?

The editor needs a plugin to function..I can make a plugin for it, but I don't have a license, so I can't test if it works.

The built-in CMS editor doesn't need a plugin to function, but if you'd like to use a 3rd party editor, like CKeditor or Redactor, you'd would need to build a plugin to initialise it in the CMS. The issue is that Redactor is not a freeware, so if you were to implement it into the CMS you'd need a license for it first and then build a plugin to use it, and I doubt that it would be able to be distributed on the marketplace due to the licensing issue, but if it's just for you & you have a license, then that should be fine :)

Brilliant responses guys, thank you for the advice! It would just be for me and my project as I have the license to use it. I may speak to the guys who build Redactor and see what can be acomplished to allow a plugin to be built that wouldn't infringe on licenses. Doubt anything will come from it though!

I can confirm we have an OEM licence to use Redactor in October.

Brilliant. So if I were to build and release a plugin using Redactor for October, I'd include your OEM license with it?
