Hi, I've installed October CMS on a shared host using the wizard installation. It installs without errors (except for the "The PHP extension fileinfo is not installed" warning). I can access the backend and work with it, but when i try to view the site i get only an error page saying "Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded" and pointing me to /modules/cms/classes/CmsObject.php line 97

So far i've only activated the demo theme. I've made sure the database configuration file is ok (it is), i've also tried if uncommenting # RewriteBase / works (it doesn't).

How can i fix the frontend?

What hosting are you using? Have you tried to install fileinfo extension? Maybe this would fix the frontend. Also, do you have an / page (index)?

Fixed it. My hosting provider uses cPanel. All i did was to change the active version of PHP from 5.5.22 to 5.6.6 in cPanel, and voilĂ , the demo theme for the front-end works. I'm currently uploading my theme and the client's website files to see if everything is OK.

I still get the warning about fileInfo, but for now it seems this module is not essential for October to work (or i have not used anything that requires the module). Any idea what it is needed for? or can i safely dismiss/hide the warning message on the dashboard?

@merodeador

Can you use custom "php.ini" files on your hosting?

Unfortunately not. For that, i would have to hire a different type of hosting service, like a VPS. Still, as long as October runs without problems, i'll rather keep it as it is. Everything seems to work, and the project deadline is near.

How did you integrate october cms to cpanel?

I didn't really "integrate" it. I just FTP'd the installer files to the hosting, created an empty database using phpMyAdmin, installed October, and then just FTP'd my theme and custom plugins into the already installed CMS.
