Is there no way to install a new plugin until march 31st?

From this I gather you're still on the old version of October. Your choices are to either

  • upgrade (harder - but if you want to follow the instructions on http://octobercms.com/beta), or
  • Install a fresh copy of October. You'll get the RC which supports installing plugins.

Many plugins have been updated to support RC (including all of mine), however some haven't and will result in error on install.
