Hello; I'm new to October but has some experience in installing CMS on my server with.

The initial installation check goes well (all green) but once I choose 'start from scratch' or 'attach to project' the installation fails with the following exect error.

..............

Building configuration files

Unparenthesized 'a ? b : c ?: d' is deprecated. Use either '(a ? b : c) ?: d' or 'a ? b : (c ?: d)'

Something went wrong during the installation. Please check the log file (install_files/install.log) or see the documentation for more information.Building configuration files

..............

I mean, I haven't configured the a ? b thing (and can only guess what that means to the database); I'm just doing a clean install of October.

It's not an easy error message to search around the web or forums or Slack for, so I was hoping someone might recognise the error and be able to help me.

I'm told I must avoid v7.4 of PHP, so using 7.3 is the 'solution'.

@Wedge52229 At the moment, October CMS does not support PHP 7.4 unless your PHP installation is set to ignore deprecations. We are currently working on updating October CMS to use Laravel 6 as a base framework, which will resolve compatibility with PHP 7.4. You can find more details here: https://github.com/octobercms/october/issues/4381
