Or at least add recaptcha or something, to keep the spammers out.

Also, is there no facility in these forums to view ones own posts ? For checking back for replies ?

We've implemented several spam protection methods so far to keep the spammers out. That's a good suggestion about viewing your own posts, you can do it via your membership page but it may not be useful for checking back for replies
