Hi.

I'm about to use OctoberCMS to create websites for my futures clients. I looked at the purposed themes/plugins and many (all?) of it are licensed under both regular and extended licenses.

Regular license says:

You are licensed to use the Product to create one single Website for yourself or for one client ("a single application"), and the Website may be Sold.

And extended license says:

You are licensed to use the Product to create one or more Websites for yourself or for any number of clients ("multiple applications"), and the Website may be Sold as part of a Web Development Service only.

Some of those I want are a bit expensive to be used only once and are a real investment for a new developper. So I came here to ask this newbie question: Can I use theme which is regular and extended licensed, into my many projects with only one purchase?

Thanks for any helps and see you soon in this forum :)

Hi,

Welcome to October!

To answer your question:

"Can I use theme which is regular and extended licensed, into my many projects with only one purchase?"

NO, you cannot use a theme to create multiple websites under the regular license. You need a regular license for every website you create.

YES, you can use a theme to create multiple websites under the extended license. This is cheaper if you plan on using a theme often.

Considering most themes costs between $0 and $100 and most websites cost between $500 and $6000 that should not be a problem.

Ofcourse you can always start with a free theme!

The problem is not the price.

Good hard work deserves a fair reward! I also want donate to October CMS each time I sell it to my client > That's fair!

The fact is: some (all I viewed) are under the two license o.0

For example, this theme i want: Ultimate Website Builder is under both Regular and Extended license.

Could I use it many times?

Hi,

All paid products are available under both licenses. When you purchase a product you choose one or the other, depending on needs and budget.

If you click on “Add to project” you can select the license.

Please note that you can already do a lot with October itself (without any theme). If you are new to October you may want to get a feel for the core functionality first, before committing to a theme builder as they can also be restrictive, depending on your skills.

Okay!!! I didn't click on the "Add to project" to see the details, I thought it will only lead me to "add to cart" action. I think it should be more clear for new users: maybe show the regular/extended license price directly in the first page...

Or perhaps change the "extended" license name: When I saw the product sheet I said to myself Extended should be a extended version of the regular license> Regular license applies and extended one "extends" (so it's name) the regular license. This is why both are mentioned and 500$ should be the price for the extended license.

I will try OctoberCMS itself before purchase any theme or plugin of course, my skill is advanced (+10 years coding).

What I want to purpose to my clients is a OctoberCMS with homemade developed plugins specific to the client work such as reservation plugin for hotels, menu for restaurant, and so on...

Where I'm not good is design development :]

Thanks for your time
