Any image upload fails with this error in the backend admin screens. I tried several different image uploads and they all give this error:
e.g.
- Mainenance -> Images -> Logo
- Users -> avatar
- my account -> avatar
October\Rain\Database\QueryBuilder::getLocalRootPath()
I've too got this and have tried the following with no luck
build 300 php artisan october:update --force removed vendor folder then run composer update 777'd storage folder
Does anyone have any insight as to why this wont work for any image uploads?
Okay I've been speaking to the guys on IRC in my instance it was the ResponsiveImage plugin than broke this. Disabling the plugin fixed all of my uploads on the latest builds

Thank you! That fixed part of the problem. Now I don't see that error anymore. But it shows broken image - the image has a path, but the path doesn't even exist. for example, it says the path is here, but there is no folder 561. When it used to work, it would create those folders. I see the old ones in the public directory.
