Back to ProEvents Support

I am an October newby and created a fresh install to develop a site for a client. I have had a few problems, but have been able to figure them out with documentation and videos. However, I have hit a wall with ProEvents. It installed fine, but have 2 major problems:

  1. on the event calendar component using Responsive view, I am just getting one unformatted calendar page. An li of days of the week followed by an li of each day of the month. Events are showing up with the correct background color, but also poorly formatted. Feels like a CSS problem. None of the other views work either, but I would like to use responsive.

  2. events list component gives an error.

Using a LAMP server, Ubuntu 18.04, PHP 7.2.24

Add the framework extras and scripts tags changes the look a bit- removes the bullet points- but does not add the calendar look.

I don't see any javascript errors there. hmm. Do you know if your theme has the following:

in the header:

{% styles %}

in the footer:

{% scripts %}

{% scripts %} is in the header. It does impact the look of the page, but does not fix it.

I do not have a styles tag anywhere on the page.

I do not need the scripts tag, BTW. I only added it because it is on the default theme template.

Ok, answer is {% styles %} must be in the header.

I did not see that in the documentation at all.

I think that's a general style guide rule for OctoberCMS themes. And you do need both should you use any plugins. Those two tags generically encompass any plugin specific style links and javascript script tags. So you are all set now? All is well?

I see. It would be helpful if it said that somewhere. Seems like all the documentation assumed your site will be built on the default theme.

It was much better, but not perfect where we change the month and year. I probably could figure that out once it was running.

However, I have to demonstrate for the client tonight, so I had to switch out to the old CRM. I want to give October a try as it seems generally very well constructed. However, not sure I will be able to figure it out in time for this project. Documentation needs to be a bit improved.

Thank you for the response!
