I added a new static page and then added an image and some text to it and tehn when I saved the page the whole site crashed with this error syntax error, unexpected '{' in Unknown on line 11 /var/www/html/vendor/october/rain/src/Parse/Ini.php line 23

I have not got a clue how it happened or how to get around it,

any help greatly appreciated

Install last OctoberCMS version and update all plugins... I've got same error yesterday and update fix it.

And what plugins do you have installed? StaticPages?

yes static pages and ckeditor

I'm getting the same thing. Forced updates to entire system, cache clears, removal of all plugins, reinstalling the plugins I removed but nothing has fixed it.

I had to start from scratch

That will be my next step though hardly an ideal one of course.

you can try this,

php artisan clear-compiled
