Gravatar is nice for those who use them, and than still only for sites that include a forum or commenting system. However, for most of the sites out there, just being a one or two user website, imho gravatars are useless. They create unnecessary bloat and undesirable connections with the gravatar servers. I never understood why they are included by default. Not with WordPress, and definitely not with October. Talking about going back to basics, what is so basic about including gravatars?
So my request would be, make the gravatar functionality optional, by being able to turn it on/off in the settings area, or better yet, move it into a plugin.
When I was developing a website for a client via OctoberCMS, he mentioned that he never added an avatar yet his image appears on the backend and he cannot remove it. This appears to create a privacy concern for him. I'm curious as to why OctoberCMS has this on by default.
