Just looked through the file system and couldn't believe it.

Static Pages plugin stores Pages and Content in the Theme folder. That is really going against the whole point of a CMS.

If the pages are ties to theme, then it makes the whole concept pointless.

Is there a way I can fix this, at least for my site? I'm using October specifically because of Static Pages, but now after realising the CMS aspect is lost, not sure if I should stop, accept the loss of time spent and change to a proper static based system

Really? I didn't know that. That's terrible CMS implementation. Thanks for the info. No idea what the devs were thinking, and surprises me October even got this far

1. maybe you should talk to / contact plugin author and ask them what is the reason behind storing content in files. Bit*** about it on forums is usually counterproductive.

2. October CMS uses static pages or CMS pages to basically store layout. Maybe naming is a bit unusual but principles behind are quite nice. It is true, you can use CMS for content but I think everybody uses blog plugin for that.

1) Or respect other's opinions, not label b**. There's standard forum etiquette. This is the place to comment and ask. It's a forum. I'll put you on my Christmas list (a dictionary) ;)

2) Sure, but this isn't just about static pages. CMS content is also linked intrinsically to theme / layout. If that works for you, great. But it's not normal CMS / flat-file / static site generator behaviour.

3) Considering October has some awesome features and look with good documentation, the following (based on github and forum activity, web coverage and usage stats) is not as much as I'd expect. I bet this is down to 1) lack of community spirit 2) lack of separated content management that users of other CMS are used to.

4) In it's base form, I'd call this project more a website IDE than a CMS.

October is defined as a "simple and modular" CMS. I think that for this, it is exactly what it says it is. I wouldn't called it an IDE by any means. It's really a Content Management System in every form. It manages content. It provides a good routing system (and super easy to use), it offer media management, it offers a plugin system, and so much more. It's definitely a CMS, but it's also a different type of CMS.

I don't spend a lot of time with the Static Pages plugin, but the CMS pages being file based is why I use October. It's definitely different, and it took a while to wrap my head around, but it's one of my favorite things about OctoberCMS.
