I'm wanting to switch my church web site work over to OctoberCMS. Right now, the missing piece of the puzzle for me is a sermon plugin. Here is my wish list:

1. A back end interface for adding sermons with a simple form:

  • Title
  • Speaker (maybe a radio button or dropdown)
  • Service (radio button: i.e. Sunday AM, Sunday PM, Wednesday, Special Service)
  • Series
  • Text (the main scripture reference for the sermon)
  • MP3 file (ties into the OctoberCMS media manager)
  • Handout (also media manager)
  • Slides (media manager)
  • Text area for sermon notes

2. An October CMS component that allows me to:

  • List individual sermons in reverse chronological order
  • List sermons by series or speaker

In the Old CMS (Concrete 5) you could add variables to the page, set up a form and then use what was called a page list block to parse those variables into the HTML. I know this is possible with October because several other plugins do it (blog and calendar plugins - for example) but I don't know HOW they do it and feel like I'm probably not up to the task of learning this myself.

So I'm wondering if someone could build something like that. I could either pay you for your time or you could sell the plugin on the October CMS plugin market for $30 or so and I'd commit to pay for every church website I build (I have four church clients waiting now and probably do one or two a month.) This would also open up the opportunity for other people making church websites to purchase the plugin. It's up to you.

Hi Ryan,

I could probably get that built for you. Could you email me at clone45@gmail.com? My resume is at www.bret-truchan.com. I'm just finishing up a pretty large project that contains a few different complex plugins, and I'd be happy to send you screen captures of them.

Cheers, Bret

clone458396 , If you were to publish to the market for a reasonable cost, I may also use it for my church. I had plans to build such a plugin but I have a few other projects to finish up first. I would also be happy to collaborate.

That sounds great, Kurt! I haven't heard back from Ryan yet, but I'll keep you posted.
