We recently had a client who needed to be able to receive information from users and manage (view, print, delete) the records in a private back end. We've been using October a lot over the past year or so and wanted to stick with it for this project. We ran across Mja's old post about rendering back end forms on the front end, but we needed to be able to use our own markup and widgets.
This eventually has led me to develop a plugin for this use case. It's called Formalities, and an alpha version is up on GitHub. It's not a full-fledged solution at the moment but, I believe, does account for the majority of scenarios. Before adding more features to fill it out or publishing it to the plugin repo, however, I wanted to put it out there for feedback to see how useful people think it might actually be, if there are any big flaws in the approach that I'm overlooking, and what features might be top priorities. Take a look and let me know your comments, suggestions, and questions, either here or on Github.
