Please can a Maintenance Mode indicator be added to the back-end somewhere noticeable and/or even overlay it as a flashing icon on the actual website itself regardless of theme. Or perhaps Maintenance Mode needs a timeout feature?

Far too often I've placed the CMS into maintenance mode only to realise a day later that my webmaster tools has had a completely meltdown because it cannot reach my website.
