Hi all, I'm new to web design so I hope my question is relevant here, and isn't redundant with what's already on the forum.

I have chosen and modified an October template to my liking, and I would like to upload it online. I own a web domain url and I would like to link to my website. Can anyone please explains the steps to do it?

Cheers, Pierre.

I have further tried to resolve my problem, and have purchased hosting space from my dns provider to store the website. I understand that i need to upload the files via ftp, and I have managed to setup a connection to storage space with FileZilla ftp client.

but when I upload all the content of my theme, I meet a runtime error upon accessing my url via web browser.

Which files from the theme root folder do I need to upload? Where on the ftp space do I need to place it?

cheers, Pierre

Do you have a clean installation of october running on your webhost? Please first download installer from october cms. Than upload all files from that zip to your webdir. In browser open you domain and follow the instructions. If an october instance is running successfully you can add your theme folder to the themes dir. /themes/nameOfYourTheme/files....

No I don't. I have uploaded all the install-master.zip content onto my hosting space now, but running install.php fails because "PHP version 5.5.9 or greater required". However, I have PHP 5.6.24 runnning on that server so not quite sure what's wrong there?

how do you get the info about your version? via phpinfo?

yes it was via url/phpinfo.php But now it is resolved, it was a configuration issue on my provider's part.

So I am successfully running install.php and past system check. Now onto configuration step - database so far - and not sure what to put in "MySQL Host" field. The IP of my hosting server?

Mostly mysql runs on the same machine than localhost or 127.0.0.1 is the value. If it is an external mysql you have to put in the hostname yes. You will find this Connection Info At your Hosting Provider
