We currently have a site that is built on Concrete5. I've been looking at other CMS solutions to possibly switch to, but one of the main things that we need is scalability. Right now we have over 11,000 pages on the site, because the site contains a blog with daily posts, over 100 books free to read online, and a store, and we need to able to plan for thousands more pages.

How scalable is October as a CMS, and does it do a good job of providing management for that many pages?

October is as scalable as you make it. I maintain several large October-based sites that handle millions of page views and what it comes down to is the implementations of each site, there's nothing inherently unscalable about October.
