Im on a mac running Yosemite. I created a localhost on my machine using terminal with this method. I downloaded the latest install master and browsed to install.php file via 'localhost:8000/install.php' The system check was missing mcrypt so I installed that on my machine then ran the install.php again. Was going through the database configuration wizard and ended up getting the following error message: "Connection failed: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory" I tried googling for an answer and tried a couple of things but cant seem to get past this error message. Help would be much appreciate : )

Do you have MySQL installed and did you create a Database already? Maybe : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25954230/mysql-does-not-start-in-osx-yosemite-10-10

What details did you enter in the 'Database' section? I was getting the same error but then I changed MySQL Host name from 'localhost' to '127.0.0.1' and it worked.

If you use Valet you can just copy the details from the Database section of the following tutorial
