Since this seems like it would be a built-in feature since so many sites do this kind of thing and it's common to many cms's, I thought I'd find it in documentation or web searches across the web. Anyway, no luck and since I'm crashing through with major time constraints I'm hoping I don't have to develop a plugin.
Can anyone say how to create client (non-technical) editable means of adding content teasers to a layout. I take it I'd use Snippets to pull in a Partial which itself pulls in a Static Page by title or id maybe, then using the php area to filter out the first 300 words or so. I also thought I could grab an image associated with the content–though that's another thing I don't understand yet–and make a thumbnail with the Mediathumb plugin.
Anyway, this seems a bit convoluted so I don't want to make something that should be easy to complicated. Anyone figured this out yet?
thanks, Ben

I see upon more exploration of the typical October CMS website that timely content is pretty much done via the 'blog' . I suppose that if I have a client post their 'latest' content to a blog post and categorize it I can pull in blog posts from certain categories using dynamic partials.
I wonder if it would be possible in the future to have a happy medium between pages and blog posts that allow you to categorize and aggregate content into partials without forcing you to use the blog. The blog approach works fine, but it will be interesting to watch for new ways of going about it as the cms matures.
