What would be the best way to add a select field populated with all entries of a single model to a page layout? Specifically I plan to put this select within a repeater and give the client the ability to dynamically add slides to their home page.

I realize I need to build a plugin for this but I feel like I must just be missing something here because I can't find clear instructions on how to do this in the documentation.
