Hi, sorry if this was asked before but I've been searching forever for the same question and I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

Can someone explain what I need to do in order for the (e.x I create a new page in editor in /backend in octoberCMS) changes in backend to show up in my code editor, my files, in VS code?

Also, vice versa, only if I upload a completely new file, do I see a change in the backend. Really sorry if this question is dumb, but I just really want to understand why the changes arent reflected on both sides the same.

I am running october CMS without a problem on localhost, and everything works great. What I mentioned above is the only confusing part.. Thank you in advance

Hello dorotheus.rex,

Could you provide more details on the problem? The Editor should work as follows, providing you have the database templates disabled (default):

  • When you save a template in the Editor, the file on the disk changes immediately, so you should see the update in VS Code.
  • When you change a file in VS Code and save it, and the file is open in the Editor tab, it won't be updated automatically. You should reopen the tab to see the changes.

I hope, this helps.

Hi Alexey,

Thank you for your response. And indeed, you are correct. I checked it now again and it is working as you mentioned. When saving the file from the backend editor, there is a little dropdown next to the save button. And I can choose an option "Update template file". That seems to do the trick (but it probably does the same thing as normal save button).

Thank you once again for your time. You can mark this as solved! Have a good weekend :)
