I am about to start work with October for the first time and I like the the centralised project concept , but I am confused. I want my plugin to be available centrally as part of my project (because it looks a good way to deploy) but I don't want it to be available on the marketplace because it's not going to be free but I don't want to charge for something until I'm happy with it. Can I do this, or do I need to use traditional deployment techniques across my local, staging and production environments?

Short answer, traditional deployment. The project will only pull in plugins that are listed in the marketplace.
