I need exactly the same thing, in the past on other projects not relating to OctoberCMS I used kcfinder in conjuction with ckeditor, maybe it is possible to create a plugin that adds this functionality

Yes. it is possible. In your CKeditor you can see a Yellow circle / dot. That's the Uploadare plugin.

1. Make an own account on Uploadcare.com
2. Change your public key on the Settings Section (URL/backend/system/settings/update/shahiemseymor/ckeditor/settings)

I'm still working on this, but it's difficult to implent a good file browser. So you have to wait, but in the meantine you can use the uploadcare plugin in ckeditor :)
