Backend Documentation Plugin for your clients
Brought To You By Leader Internet
OctoDoc gives you a backend tab to create and store documentation when handing sites over to clients. PDF documentation is fine but what happens when you need to update the documentation? You have to edit the PDF and email to the client again.
No More!
Now you can simply create the documentation in the CMS backend. When you need to update, just log in and edit.
Clients can also add their own articles allowing OctoDoc to become the central location for information.

Useful plugin. Some features could be added to make it even better
- Import / Export : Would be great to be able to import and export articles, very useful if you share some part of your documentation between projects.
- Hierarchy : It would be also great to be able to define some hierarchy between articles, with an automatic creation of summary when you go to a parent category.
- Export as PDF : It would be great to be able to export the whole documentation to a nicely formatted pdf document. Some setting would be appreaciable like the possibility to put your company logo in the header of the document, choosing between several templates etc...
- Better styling : Actually, the render of the page is not as elegant than the october CMS backend standard. It would be great to have better default styling.
Best regards,
Alex

Good app, needs to have more features and a better saving system.
Also, WARNING: Having this app on a project, then re-installing the project into a new installation, can crash the installation and corrupt the admin account. Version 1.0.6

What features would you like to see?
Also, please send a bug report for the issue you found so we can investigate. It sounds like a very rare edge case.

The idea of this plugin is great, having a dedicated place for documentation to hand off to your clients. However, having the documentation stored in the database makes it difficult to keep your development installation in sync with the client's; it really should store the written docs to files that can be kept under version control.

How do you manage your client documentation at the moment?
We found that most people create PDF manuals and email these to the client, which is error prone and also not versioned.
A lot of people block the CMS tab from clients and some clients like to add their own documentation for other team members so they need to have a way to add pages simply.
