  3. SMTP for GMAIL gives 110 timeout

Hey, because of security reasons of my hosting (dumb) I cannot use regular phpmail, getting: "escapeshellcmd() has been disabled for security reasons

So i need to setup GMAIL account to use SMTP, but i'm failing. getting timeout error. with different settings. How can I set it up ? Please advice. Googled for it, but without luck. Tried all solutions found.
