Hi everybody, I´m new to October but I already made a project with Laravel. But on my new project I need a CMS as it´s going to be a "classic" website with extended functioniality. What I need:

  • management of courses that users can book into
  • a user management with different roles. While normal members should be able to login, change parts of their profile and book a course in the frontend, admins should be able to access the backend, where they can manage members, website content and the courses.

  • How would you realize such a project? Like what are the needed steps?
  • Are there plugins already that I could use or extend on (like for the booking functionality)?
  • Is the user management able to do what I need or would I have to extend it?

Thanks!

As a previous Laravel developer and fairly newbie to the October community, I can safely say that you are not going to easily port your Laravel project into October.

Ironically I have also created a 'booking' application on Laravel. Event management (especially recurring) is a pain. Unfortunately there is nothing of the like available for October that I am aware of.

A couple plugins that would be useful to you:

Rainlab User Plugin: https://octobercms.com/plugin/rainlab-user (separate from admins) frontend user and group management

Rainlab Builder Plugin: https://octobercms.com/plugin/rainlab-builder Visual rapid development tool. Create basic plugins and understand the architecture.
