I am doing a little customizations to the manager, you know touching some files like

common.less global.variables.less

And after this i run:

php artisan composer:utils compile assets

But if when i got an update from the core my changes are gone.

Any clue?

you should be use git to control your source so you can track it everytime you want

You should avoid editing files at bootstrap/ and modules/ just like you (probably) do with vendor/ and 3th-party plugins. Have you tried editing the backend appearance using a plugin?
