Hi,
I'm having an super old install of OctoberCMS (Build 185) and would like to update it to the latest build. When searching for updates from within the backend it tells me to update the system to 280, which is exactly what I want. Since it's a pretty big update - is this a save thing to do? Any experiences on upgrading from Beta to RC via the backend?
Thanks, Christian

It is possible, but there are a number of breaking changes as well as file modifications that need to occur. Check out https://octobercms.com/docs for the upgrade instructions.

yeah I tested my theme and plugins and they work with the latest RC build so I guess I'm just gonna backup those, wipe my server and start with a fresh install. Seems like the easiest way to me right now.
I was in the same situation as you 2 days ago. I tried to upgrade more than 100 versions forward and it broke in the middle of the process. I deleted the whole October setup from my server after backing up my themes and database, and then freshly installed the newest build.

Thanks! Have you been able to apply the DB dump afterwards, weren't there any changes to the DB structure in newer versions?
