Back to Store Locator Support

I'm brand new to OctoberCMS after years working with a different CMS. I'm still in over my head dealing with the amount of programming required. I purchased a theme that utilizes Static Pages. Could you pass on an example of how to utilize your locator plugin on a static page? Ideally I would set it up as a block to include on a static page. I'll keep digging in and learning, but I'm thinking about migrating a site created with another CMS over to October, and having a locator like this is one of the main "custom" features I need to justify making the effort. Any help or code or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jim,

please follow Settings->System->Updates and Plugins in the backend of your installation and click Check for updates button. Then Store Locator Map Component item will appear in the Pages->Snippets section of your backend.

Feel free to ask me any questions related to the plugin.

Hi Ademin,

I'm very new to Laravel and October, just started my first client project on October, I'm wanting the 'Store Locator to show all the pins on the map as default, but it's only showing the pins when a postcode is entered (which is loading a map of USA, and I have to scroll out to see my pin on australia) is there a way to have the map load the correct area, i'm using austalian post codes or is it locked to USA by default?

Also, thought it might be worth mentioning the in your columns.yaml file 'country' is spelt wrong (line: county) this was giving an error.

For beginners it would be helpful to list all the Google Map API's that need to be enabled for all this to work:

  • Maps JavaScript API
  • Geocoding API
  • Geolocation API
  • Places API

Hi Ademin

UPDATE: I've managed to get the map to load the correct area when a postcode is entered, I just need to figure out how to load all the pins automatically when the page first loads, if possible?
