Hi,

I'm busy with an avatar feature for my website but I still don't know what the best way is to do this. Should I make a Avatar plugin or should I make a pull-request for the user /or forum plugin?

If it is a plugin I must find a way to extend the validation rules of an existing form.

Can someone give me advice. Thank you.

I would say make it a plugin so it could be used in either the user and/or forum plugin. As far as extending other rules or plugins I have yet to find any documentation that will lead me in right direction to extend a plugin. I'm working on a plugin right now and I'm stuck until I can figure out how to extend the user plugin so show another column and add a new field.
