Today, October CMS celebrates a major milestone—our 10th anniversary! It's been a decade of growth, challenges, and incredible support from our amazing community. What began as a passion project has evolved into a platform we're proud of, thanks to your feedback and enthusiasm.
As we look ahead to this next release, we're excited to continue building October CMS into the best tool it can be for developers everywhere. Your trust has brought us this far, and we're grateful for each one of you who has been part of this journey.
Here's to the future! Let's keep making the web a better place—together. Accordingly, we're also happy to announce the release of October CMS version 3.7 today! Here's a rundown of what's new, along with a YouTube deep dive discussion about this release:
New Currency Tools
As mentioned in the previous post, we've introduced a suite of tools for seamless currency management, brought to you by the official Currency plugin. Now, you can easily manage prices and quotes within your forms, lists, and front-end displays.
Record Finder Content Field
Using models in Tailor was previously a complicated task, requiring you to set up a custom content field to define the relationship. Now connecting your Tailor models to regular models just got easier with the new Record Finder content field. When used in Tailor, this field allows you to define and locate model relations seamlessly.
Resizer Grouped Folders
By popular demand on SEO experts, you can now specify a custom SEO file name for your resized files. The Resize Twig filter now includes an optional group
parameter to customize the folder structure for resized images. This change eliminates the unique hash at the end of the file path, improving your SEO efforts by giving you more control over file organization.
Detailed Option Definitions
The checkboxlist
, dropdown
, and radio
form fields now support more detailed option definitions. This allows you to set individual attributes for each option, providing greater flexibility in your forms. You can now disable individual items and provide complex nesting structures, including option groups for dropdowns.
We've also introduced a cumulative
option for the checkbox lists, so when a parent checkbox is selected, all the children are automatically selected.
First-Class Blueprint Support Added to Themes
Themes now support a blueprints directory, allowing you to introduce theme-specific blueprints. This means that blueprints can be placed within a theme's directory and become contextual to that theme. Previously, they would reside in the app or plugins directory and were globally available.
Now, by placing blueprints in the themes directory, they are tied to that specific theme. This allows for more control, as the blueprint navigation will only be displayed when the corresponding theme is selected in the admin panel. This includes multisite capabilities, which only display the blueprint if the related site (and theme) is selected.
Other Improvements
This release includes many bug fixes and improvements under the hood. Be sure to read the Release Notes to learn more about all the new features and improvements in October CMS 3.7.
We hope you enjoy this release. Stay tuned for the next announcement. Your feedback is invaluable to us, so please don't hesitate to share your thoughts.
