I'm just finishing up my first October project. I was wondering what others are doing to minimize the HTML?

I'm currently using the "HTML minify Plugin" to do it. Although, ideally I'd like to the minification inside of my Gulp build task. However, when I do this, the pages won't load. I am not certain, but I'm guessing the problem comes from the tags that Oct CMS places at the head of the HTM files. My questions are...

1) Am I taking a performance hit by using the HTML Minify Plugin? I'm not certain how to measure this, and I'm wondering if the minification is performed for each page load or if it is stored minified somewhere inside of October. (Sorry, I'm a newbie at Oct CMS and not familiar enough with it to know what is going on under the hood).

2) Have you done it in a Gulp task? If did you run into errors when attempting to load the page?
